Introducing “Cora” Vinyl Background

One of our newest vinyl background designs for February 2023, Cora is vibrant and energizing. It’s feminine, strong, and intense. Somewhere between pink and peach with strong black marbling it makes for a beautiful kitchen countertop and is especially perfect for food photography.

Try using yellow props with Cora. I think it’s a beautiful combination, but it may be because I’m in Arizona, it’s citrus season, and I have so many lemons! A big thank you to my lovely sister-in-law who picks them from her lemon tree in her back yard and shares them with me!

Smart Tip: please be careful when using citrus on a vinyl photography background as it can discolour it. Keep lemon juice in a bowl, and lemons on a plate or cutting board. If you want it to appear there are drops of lemon juice on the countertop use water and no one will know the difference.

The black cutting board on Cora, combined with the black marbling in the background, makes a bold statement. The bright yellow of the lemons sitting on the black makes everything pop and as a result it’s a bright and lively scene.

My favourite way to zest a lemon is with this tool which you can find on Amazon or any kitchen store. For this image I used the large edge to make pretty zests but I recommend using the fine, sharp holes to make zest for recipes.

So, I thought I’d share this lemon loaf recipe I’ve been using my whole married life. It was my mother-in-law’s and it quickly became one of our own family favourites.

The best part of this lemon loaf is the tangy sugary syrup that you pour over it while it’s still in the pan and still hot (don’t skip this!). Finally, I dusted the loaf with icing sugar for the photo .. it looked pretty on the counter and added a touch of interest to the “story”.

Did you know? Lemon zest, or the zest of any citrus fruit, refers to the outermost colourful layer of the peel known as the flavedo. Don’t include the white pithy layer which is part of the peel or rind.
