Flea Market Fun

What could be more fun than a day spent foraging for vintage treasures at “an old school flea market” where the slogan reads

it’s like your weird great-aunt’s attic threw up in the Big Surf Parking lot. Whoa

I laugh every time I read that.

It was March of 2020 .. we were in Arizona, just before the pandemic struck, and although we were aware of what was going on, panic had not quite set in. So a blissful day was spent at this fun market and I came home with so.many.treasures.

My favourite treasure was a pile of printers blocks. As I walked up to the vendor and saw a box filled with them, I hesitated only for a second then said “I’ll take the lot!” I’ve since had no regrets. As I already had the printers tray and bowl, it was a match made in heaven. When I’m not busy taking photos, the tray and blocks make a wonderful coffee table vignette.

Vintage props .. can you ever have too many?

So what (and where) is this hidden gem? It’s Thieves Market and is held once a month in Phoenix, Arizona. Thieves Market is a monthly outdoor, old school flea market that hosts vendors selling antiques, vintage and hand made items, and exotic imports. The atmosphere is lively, fun, and sometimes hilarious. It’s also very busy and the parking lot is unpaved, sorta regulated, and somewhat organized (ha). Make sure you get there early.

Fast forward to February 2022 .. we’re back in Arizona, enjoying a bit of sunshine and warmth, and first up on my agenda was this fabulous and fun market (it’s been on my calendar for weeks). So today I thought I’d share a few candid shots of our adventure .. I hope you find it fun!

.. the one that didn’t get away ; )

I’m not great at taking photos in public, but I’m always happy when I do get some! It’s hard to “keep your eye on the prize” and search for photo ops as well. But I’m thinking that’s going to be my new goal .. to capture everyday moments and try to tell a story.

The treasures I came home with that day were not expensive .. but they were unique and caught me completely by surprise .. a most successful day!

Thanks for stopping by and sharing in my little adventure.

Now it’s March 2023 and I’m still attending this amazing, fun market. It has since moved to a bigger location with better parking but has not lost any of it’s charm.

  1. Barb,
Looks like you had so much fun. I have been wanting printers letters to go with a printers tray that I bought from Karen @permillion last year. Great pictures and thanks for sharing.
